Saturday May 9 2015 E & I took a ride on the bike to the cabin so I could water the vines since we have had no rain this week.
Somewhere around Jasper I got to thinking. Here I am on a beautiful sunny day on our motorcycle with the woman I love heading to our cabin in the mountains so I can tend to our grapevines that we will make into our own wine. Wow, Life is good and God is great!
I checked the vines when we got there and was so excited to see bud break on the vines. See pics below. It’s hard to tell looking down the 30 inch grow tube to see anything, but there was definitely visible growth on just about every vine. The Chardonnel at this point seem to be ahead of the others. These vines were the ones that had a huge root system compared to the Nortons and Chambourcins. Very long and very well developed, with some roots fine as hair.
I was also able to till and lay rows for E’s Mom so she could have a small garden again this year.
We came back Saturday evening because Sunday is Mother’s Day and I want to see my Mom and our kids want to see their Mom. We got caught in a pop-up shower on old Hwy 76 and hid under a church portico until it passed. Our jeans got thoroughly soaked, but it just added to the adventure. It was actually quite refreshing and we dried off quickly in the sun and wind.
A wonderful day.
