Wow, what a nice weekend in PS! We had Matt & Kristin over for dinner Saturday night. A rousing time was had by all during the evening domino game. And we got to see Jennie Sunday morning for a nice visit.
I also built a rolling stand for my newest toy – the Fast Fermentor. I’m excited about this one. It’s story is that the unusual shape and the collection ball on the bottom make it possible to do both Primary and Secondary Fermentation in the same vessel. (see pics below) I got it all cleaned, sanitized and set up. Then I went ahead and started the new Chilean Malbec in it. The built in thermometer is awesome.
The California Trinity is moving along nicely. Started it on Feb 13th and just racked it to the carboy for Secondary. I did a rather silly thing and started this during a cold spell and had to move it to a warmer room and baby it by warming it up with heating blankets. Dumb idea and lesson learned. But, now it’s all snug and cozy back in the winery with heating pad backup just in case.
We continue to build the wine collection and the bottle collection. I have spent lots of time soaking, scraping and cleaning and sanitizing bottles to get them ready. Once my own wine goes into production, I’ll need lots of bottles. I thought I would do a count just for fun, to see where we’re at.
