October – Finally tackled the left side of the driveway entrance. A base made up of pieces of Skeenah Gap Rd with a rock top held together with lots of concrete. Should outlive me. Did some close observations taking notes about each vine. Overall pretty pleased with the progress. I am going to have to study hard about pruning techniques so I don’t screw these up. The #6 vine in each row is the poorest growing, smallest vine. Maybe the hardpan runs underneath these. These 3 vines will need

Well, the Japanese beetles came back very hungry. Since I can only spray on the weekend when we’re there, it gets washed off during the first rain and allows the beetles free rein. So, I sprayed again and we’ll see how it goes. Most of the vines are doing great, with 21 out of 24 vines
